The goal of the product description page redesign was to make it more scalable than previous iterations.
The introduction of more product angles, marketing photography, product videos and user-generated content better feature products but would need dedicated space in a new layout. The new page also features product details, style notes and attributes closer to product photography than the previous iteration.
A modal featuring recommended similar styles to out-of-stock items keeps the user browsing relevant styles and content.
Since marketing photography features prominently on products that have elevated content available, the layout needed to deteriorate elegantly for various situations on all breakpoints.
